Hello Everyone,

Well it seems that all of our training has finally paid off, our team has been invited to join a

team of highly trained individuals to go to Chile.

Now I know it seems like Chile is a long way to go when so many animals need rescuing here

in Canada.

Going to places like Chile not only gives us a chance to help people and animals after a disaster, it gives us the experience to deal with any disaster situation that may occur here in Canada. Currently there are very few organizations that are as prepared in disaster as we are.

Our work in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Gustav taught us how to deal with a mass disaster situation, and how to help people with animals by housing their animals if disaster strikes.

A huge part of getting people with animals to safety is too make sure they know their animals are being taken care of by a group of experienced people, as everyone learned after Katrina, people will not willing leave their pets behind.

We have been there for the aftermath to help people relocate their pets, we have been there to house pets during evacuations. These are valuable lessons that will give us the experience needed when disaster strikes here in Canada.

We are doing work here in Canada, we have helped with puppy mill seizures, helped house multiple animals after hoarding situations. We are currently applying to join a team to go to Baker Lake, Nunavut to do a spay/neuter clinic in September. We are also currently working on a spay/neuter clinic in the Guelph area. We have applied to the Red Cross, and we hope that in time we will

be able to assist the Red Cross in Canada with their disaster plans. The Red Cross will help the people and we will care for the animals of those people.

This letter is to ask for your help, the team would like to leave for Chile within the week, I am emailing you all to help us get there, as most of you know we are always packed and ready to go.

Where ever and when ever we are needed, we never ask for donations and we usually pay from our own pockets.

Normally we only have to go to the Southern States or Eastern Canada, and we tend to drive, we do not stay in hotels we usually sleep in our car or in tents.

Normally we would do a fundraising event for such a deployment but it seems they may want us to leave by next week, so we don’t have the time to organize a fundraising event, so I am emailing you all to ask for your help to off set the costs.

Most of the rescues funding goes toward vet bills, we had a foster dog that could not be adopted as she had lymphoma, she stayed with me for 6 months until her death early this month, we currently have a feral cat with a broken leg in our care and 3 foster dogs.

We are a registered “not for profit” organization in Canada and any donations will be covered with a tax receipt.

If you wish, I can send you pictures of the situation with the animals in Chile, but I don’t like to add such things to emails as it may upset some, the pictures we get tend to be quite graphic.
